Hybrid production

Some jobs need a camera: real people, a real product in hand, a location the client owns. Those run as hybrid productions, live action with the crews of dockyard, the film production in our group, extended generatively by VAIN.

Hybrid production

How it works

  • The live-action unit shoots the scenes that need to be real, with crews, equipment and post-production in Vienna and Gmunden.
  • VAIN generates what a shoot cannot afford or reach: additional locations, seasons, set extensions, crowds, product variations, second and third versions.
  • One director and one pipeline carry both halves, so the film cuts together as one.

What it is good for

  • Campaigns with talent under contract who have to appear as themselves.
  • Product demonstrations that have to be true to the physical product.
  • Budgets where a two-day shoot plus generative extension beats a two-week shoot.

The live-action side

  • Fifteen years of commercials, image films, animation and post-production, with production partners across Europe. Same group, same contract, same director.

Questions we get asked

All questions

How are VAIN, dockyard and ICS Media connected?

All three are ICS Media GmbH. ICS is the group and the company; dockyard is its film production for live action; VAIN is its studio for AI film. One contract, one invoice, one director when a job is hybrid. See ics-media.at and dockyard.at.

Can you combine AI with a real shoot?

Yes, that is a hybrid production with dockyard: live action for what has to be real, generative for what a shoot cannot afford or reach, one director for both. See hybrid production.

How do feedback rounds work?

Two correction rounds per production step are included, as in our terms; more can be booked. Feedback is given on the storyboard first, where changes are cheap, then on the cut. It lands on the frame, and we correct there rather than re-generating whole scenes.
